Tap a word to play from it

This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allāh -

Al-Baqarah 2:2, recited by Abdul Basit, with the Saheeh International translation.

Meaning in reading order

A sentence you can read, not a word list

Most word-by-word Qurans put a small English gloss under each Arabic word. That tells you what each word means, but the English no longer reads as a sentence. Quran Loop keeps the whole translation, and lights the part that belongs to the word you’re hearing.

In the app

Tap a word to play it, hold to repeat it

Verse view shows one verse at a time while your loop plays. Tap any Arabic word and the recitation jumps to it. Press and hold a word that won’t stick and it repeats; tap a second word to repeat the whole phrase between them.

  1. Open the verses

Pick them on the Mushaf page, or follow a link like the ones on this page. Press Loop.

  2. Switch to Verse view

Tap Verse at the top for one verse at a time, the Arabic large and the English translation under it.

  3. Listen and follow

Each word lights as the reciter says it, and so does its meaning in the English. Slow the recitation to 0.75× or 0.5× to follow more closely.

Frequently asked questions

Does word-by-word highlighting work on every surah?

Yes. Every verse in all 114 surahs has its English matched to the Arabic words, so the meaning lights in step wherever you loop. The links on this page open Al-Fatihah and the start of Al-Baqarah, but any verses you pick work the same way.

Which English translation does Quran Loop use?

Saheeh International, with the translator’s footnotes. The words in square brackets, like “[All] praise is [due]”, are the translator’s, added for clear English; they light with the Arabic word they explain.

Does it show the meaning under each Arabic word?

No. Quran Loop keeps the translation as a full sentence you can read, and lights the part that belongs to the word being recited. Arabic and English put words in different orders, so the light moves to wherever that meaning sits in the sentence. Some small words, like a particle that only links two others, have no English of their own and light nothing.

Can I repeat a single word?

Yes. In Verse view, press and hold a word and it starts repeating. Then tap another word to repeat everything between the two, for a phrase that won’t stick. Tap a word on its own to play the verse from there.

Does the highlight work with every reciter?

It follows the reciter you pick, so the light keeps time with the voice you hear. Abdul Basit is the default, and you can preview other reciters before you switch.

Can I turn the highlighting off?

Yes, with “Highlight the word being recited” in Settings, for example to test yourself by listening alone. Tapping a word still works with it off.

Is it free?

Yes, with no ads and no account needed to listen. A free account keeps your weak verses, playlists and saved loops on every device.
